Position Overview
The Photographer captures compelling, high-quality images that bring Youngblood Magazine’s editorial and visual vision to life. This role works across print, digital, and multimedia projects, creating visuals that reflect the magazine’s bold culturally relevant aesthetic. The Photographer collaborates closely with the Creative Director and editorial team to produce images that resonate with readers and amplify Black creativity.
Key Responsibilities
- Shoot editorials, fashion spreads, portraits, and event coverage.
- Collaborate with the Creative Director and art department to execute visual concepts.
- Work with Editors and Writers to understand story context for shoots.
- Edit and retouch photos to maintain consistency with the magazine’s aesthetic.
- Assist in planning and setting up shoots, including lighting, staging, and location selection.
- Stay informed on photography trends, techniques, and equipment.
Qualifications & Skills
- Professional photography experience in editorial, fashion, or lifestyle.
- Strong visual storytelling skills and creative vision.
- Proficiency in photo editing and retouching software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively under deadlines.
- Knowledge of current visual trends and popular culture.
Compensation
This position is paid through a stipend, which will be distributed when new issues of Youngblood Magazine are released. The stipend amount is based on available funds after each issue is released.
